There’s strong demand fueling this space. According to Grand View Research, the global low-code development platform market is projected to grow at around 23% CAGR from 2023 to 2030. That’s huge. But growth doesn’t fix design limitations. The message here is simple: Don’t give up control if your product needs depth.

Over-simplification in low-code/no-code tools can lead to ineffective solutions

The convenience you gain upfront gets offset later. There’s also a cost side here. Iterating with an LLM to get the right output can be expensive in terms of compute usage, prompt engineering, and developer time. These incremental inefficiencies can build up, especially when development timelines get tight or teams lack in-house expertise to manage or interrogate LLM behavior effectively.

Executives should treat LLM-powered tools as accelerators, not decision-makers. They enhance productivity when used by skilled teams who can interpret and refine their outputs, but you can’t expect these systems to replace core design thinking, architectural decisions, or real-world experience. Treat everything coming from these platforms as a first draft, not a finished product. Enterprises shouldn’t rely on security features that are passive or inconsistent. Don’t just evaluate platforms for features. Evaluate their exit paths. What happens if this vendor sunsets a core feature or changes its pricing model? What if uptime slips or your security standards evolve? If those questions don’t have clear answers now, they will become urgent problems later.

Underestimating the power of low-code/no-code tools can hinder their effective utilization
